The Flood - song lyrics

Here comes the flood again
Watch it fall from the sky
Feel it soak through my flesh and my blood
Feel it burn in my eyes

When I say how much more can I take
I know the water's rising up
Watch the waves crest and break
And though I may not make a sound
I fear that I may drown
I fear that I may drown

Here comes the wind again
Cold that cuts to the bone
Pack my bags and I'll head out the door
Here I am on my own

When I say how much more can I stand?
I know my walls are falling down
I let the rocks who chose the sand
And though I know one left to blame
Still I cursed your name
I cursed your name

So now the end
What I've been running from
Though I've tried I cannot lift my head
Oh, what have I become?

When I say how much more can I take?
I know my time is running short
I am broken and I'm breaking
Though I've worn myself so thin
Coming home again

And though I do not know my heart
But I know myself into my bones
But if my bones should come apart
Then I'll have nothing left to give
But if you take me in
Coming home again

And if you take me in
Coming home again

Turn the lights out, in the lighthouse I saw you coming Felt the shipwreck, saw the wreckage I heard you yelling Just then that's when I saw your reflection in the sand Wondering where you had washed up Oh, I ran to the water (mmm) I could put my hands down in it But it won't bring nothing up Sitting on the shore all day Just waiting on the tide to come But you can't hold on to water It fills you up but never stays It's only good to wash away, today And you're loving me like water You're slipping through my fingers, such A natural disaster love Bringing on the flood of love Love me like a flood of love Bring it on Stay the night out, by the beach house It's oh so quiet Lit a candle, by the window So you might find it Hope you know you'll always have a place to call your home Still I can't help but think I could have saved you from drowning (oooh) I could put my hands down in it, yeah But it won't bring nothing up Sitting on the shore all day Just waiting on the tide to come But you can't hold on to waterIt fills you up but never stays It's only good to wash away, today And you're loving me like water You're slipping through my fingers, such A natural disaster love Bringing on the flood of love Love me like a flood of love Bring it on I knew the waves were icy When I felt them all retreating Went to take a dive in the deep end Oh, what was I thinking? But you can't hold on to waterIt fills you up but never stays It's only good to wash away, today And you're loving me like water You're slipping through my fingers, such A natural disaster love Bringing on the flood of love Love me like (love me like) a flood of love Bring it on (Ohh ohh) The rising and the falling of my tears Rising and the falling of my tears that fill the ocean The ocean The ocean My tears that fill the ocean

Broken people get recycled, and I hope that I will Sometimes we're thrown off our pathways What I thought was my way home Wasn't the place I know I'm not afraid of changing, I'm certain nothing's certain What we own becomes our prison My possessions will be gone Back to where they came from Blame, no one is to blame As natural as the rain that falls Here comes the flood again See the rock that you hold onto, is it gonna save you? When the earth begins to crumble Why do you feel you have to hold on? Imagine if you let go Blame, no one is to blame As natural as the rain that falls Here comes the flood again Wash away the weight that pulls you down Ride the waves that free you from the dusk Don't trust your eyes, it's easy to believe them Know in your heart that you can leave your prison Don't trust your mind, it's not always listening Turn on the lights, and feel the ancient rhythm Don't trust your eyes, it's easy to believe them Know in your heart that you can leave your prison Blame, no one is to blame As natural as the rain that falls Here comes the flood again

Pull this little thread And watch it grow and watch it spread Wider than the dawn Further in and farther on Who could comprehend The path it takes or know its plan? Oh, the mystery of what may come And what shall be Hear the waves crash down As they shape the shore and in their sound Each one lives its life In its own way, in its own time And would you say to them Hold your tongues? Or come not hence? To live a life that's free Is to sing and dance In the melody Now I understand That there are dreams and there are plans And some shall see the light But there are those that will pass by So I've come to hope Though I can't say and I can't know That in the end I'll be With the friends I know And who know me

It's a long and lonely road When you are on your own, all by yourself The emptiness that lays deep within your bones To love somebody else Cause when you're gone, lord knows, you'll be gone When you're gone, oh, you'll be gone I am not a stranger to the dark or to the cold I know them well All the pride hidden deep inside my soul Oh, to be somebody else But when I'm gone, lord knows, I'll be gone When I'm gone, oh I'll be

This was both of us together Every part was joining in All like solitary feathers Move with purpose through the wind When so many of us forfeit Before we simply lose the plot This was everything I wanted And I gave everything I've got Well, there's not much that I can say To make you change your mind You drifted further every day Until the well runs dry Runs dry, runs dry, oh Was it all the complicated Making mountains out of dust Does it leave you feeling jaded I'd imagine that it does Well, there's not much that I can say To make you change your mind You drifted further every day And the well ran dry Oh, oh Oh, oh Oh, oh There's not much that I can say To make you change your mind You drifted further every day Til the well runs dry Runs dry, runs dry Runs dry, runs

This is not the end It's the start When all that's broken mends All that came apart And I looked into your eyes And I saw fear of hurt, because of me Of both with uncertainty And I looked into your eyes And you lied If you fall, you fall I will never let you go If you fall, you fall I will never let you go (Ooh-ooh-ooh) So you start again Pick up where you stopped You beg to be let in But still refuse to knock And I heard you when you called Oh, I heard you saying Hope in what you cannot see Hope is not some guarantee, no Oh, I heard you when you called Do you hear me? And you fall, you fall But I will never let you go And you fall, you fall But I will never let you go And you fall, you fall But I will never let you go (Ooh-ooh-ooh)

There's something about the winter's down in Texas Something in the wind that burns my eyes No way that I could keep from being reckless When nothing but a drink can ease my mind Now I've had enough of wanting to be wanted I've had enough of living in despair They say that brighter days will surely find me But I've never seen the sun like I did there So I'm packing up my bags and heading westward Looking for a place to call my own And I know I could find peace down in the valley But something about the water calls me home Well, in my heart there's two roads that diverge now And I'm sorry I can only travel one But living's only living once you've chosen To stop wasting time wondering what you might've done So I'm packing up my bags and heading westward Looking for a place to call my own And I know I could find peace down in the valley But something about the water calls me home So I'm packing up my bags and heading westward Looking for a place to call my own And I know I could find peace down in the valley But something about the water calls me home Oh I know I could find peace down in the valley But something about the water calls me home
